.. comes when it is least expected.
I had a productive day today :D but not in school.
It happened in Kinokuniya.. I know a trip to Kinokuniya (or any other bookstore) is always productive for me but today (!) in particular will go down in my history books.
I was pondering over whether to order CDData or not after picking up my two pre-ordered magazines when I turned to check out the ever-busy shelf containing music magazines when I saw UVERworld on a CDData magazine. I picked it up and noticed "DIR EN GREY" written quite prominently over the cover and then I saw the inset picture of Dir en grey with the words written "Another Side Cover" or some other literal translation to the same effect. So I flipped it over and discovered that lo, it was the SAME magazine as the one I wanted. Not to mention it was the LAST copy on the shelf.. which led me to wonder what special occasion did I forget that Kinokuniya will give me a gift? So I nicely tucked it under my arm and proceeded to make my payment.
This will be on top of my "Awesome discoveries while at a bookstore" list along with the discovery of the old August issue of SHOXX which included the very homo-erotic/glittery/bright and white photoshoot of Kamijo and Sanaka.
I like.
I told my sister "I have so many magazines with UVERworld on the cover that people think I actually LOVE UVERworld when I don't"
Somehow, they're always there. Like it or not.
(Same goes for The Yellow Monkey and The Back Horn.. I don't listen but they're always in my magazines LOL)
I ventured AWAY from Neil Gaiman's Death book (The sister of Dream.. which costs RM300+ and is as tempting as a dreamy bowl of warm chocolate cake.. I can't bring myself to buy it even with Kinokuniya generously offering a 30% discount with another purchase :S) and ventured very far away from the literature section. I just bought three books (I will get to this later) yesterday.. and don't think it is wise to buy more books after just one day.
.. and now for further prove of my near zero resistance level..
I am definitely not immune to temptations. That will be listed as the understatement to end all understatements.
I bought all three Dexter books... Dearly Devoted Dexter, Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dexter in the Dark.. and coming right up, DEXTER BY DESIGN... not bought yet but will be, eventually.
For the first time since discovering Borders has the whole 'Choose any three kids books from our stickered selection and we'll give you the cheapest one free' (I will eventually explain as to why I found this statement highly amusing as well as inappropriate) offer, I actually found THREE books that I really want. Usually, there's always only TWO which will then make me buy another book that I have zero interest in and thus, equals it to buying two books for the price of two which will then make the entire offer lose its purpose. (I've never done so, though.. not so stupid)
And so, I bought all three. I need to buy some resistance as well.
Now, for my explanation.
THREE KIDS BOOKS.
HELLO?
BORDERS? HAVE YOU NOT READ DEXTER? At least read the summary at the back!
Shall I quote?
"Dexter Morgan appears to be the perfect gentleman. He leads a normal, quiet life working as a forensic officer for the Miami Police. He has a nice, shy gilfriend and is liked by her young children. But Dexter has a secret hobby. He's an accomplished serial killer. So far he's killed dozens of people and has never been caught, because he knows exactly how to dispose of the evidence. And there are those who would rather he wasn't caught at all, because Dexter is a serial killer with a difference. He only kills the city's bad guys'
I will stop there.
Why the 3 for 2 sticker will have a statement saying 'Choose any three kids books' for this book amused and bemused me.
I mean, focus on an issue here.. From an ecological point of view, this book is not one a child should read.
Dexter throws crap into the sea! In non-biodegradable bags!
Trash go in bins, not seas... TURTLES CAN DIE FROM THESE BAGS, DAMN IT!
...
Oh right.. and he murders as well.
