I shall now blog about my trip to Johor and Singapore :)
People think that I followed my family on a HOLIDAY. Oh, dear Lord, NO. My family went to Johor because my brother had a golf competition. I went along because I want a holiday. It was only me. Lol. That was the idea, initially. As you'll eventually read, it turned out as a holiday for everybody BUT my brother. We ditched him on the golf course and had a good time ourselves. Family is LOVE.
Day 1:
Left KL around 6:30 PM.
Made a few stops for gas and food and we finally arrived in Senai (where the hotel is at) at approximately 10 PM.
Sat around trying to watch the Olympic badminton finals between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei but our stomachs were telling us to do otherwise so we ventured out for food.
After 30 minutes of being lost in Senai (don't ask me whereabout Senai is), we found a nice porridge place and that was our first meal after the mothership dropped the aliens in Johor.
Then, we returned home (not without our usual bout of lost-ness).
My Dad said "I've lost my bearings".
I said "I've never really had any to lose".
Then we passed a shop that said 'Kien Hoe Bearings Sdn. Bhd.'.
I said "Maybe I can buy some there".
On the way home, my Dad said "Maybe I should visit Kien Hoe."
I laughed like a drain but the rest of the family nearly murdered the two of us for being lame.
We have a gene. And it's a lame gene. Trust me.
Day 2:
We decided we wouldn't go over the Singapore YET until my Dad, and maybe me, found our bearings. Instead, we visited City Square and walked around. I got a book. No, shit. I went all the way to Johor to visit a MPH bookstore and bought a book.
My Mum found a map of Singapore and decided to buy it.
There's a skin care centre in Johor called 'LYDIA'. I kid you not. I took a picture as proof.
Ridiculously funny.
My Dad told me he noticed it in 2004 (when he worked there briefly).
And then I remembered that I saw another one in a shophouse when I visited him then.
And then I had a sickening thought... There are OTHER branches using MY name. Ish.
After City Square, we returned to the hotel to pack up our stuff (Mum and me), checked out of the hotel and went over to my cousin's house as we were to shack up at his house for the rest of our trip. He had returned from Singapore (where he works) by the time we arrived and, along with my brother, went out for dinner. He took us to this really nice place. Food was good and the food was made even better when the bill came. There was 5 of us, a whole lotta food (meat, tofu, vegetables etc etc.) and the bill only came up to around RM103.
After that, we dropped my cousin back home and went to pick my sister up who went to Singapore that day with a friend of hers.
Day 3:
We set out at 9 something in the AM for Singapore.
I was running late so I had to slip on the easiest thing to wear which was my yellow dress :(
After 45 minutes of travelling, 1 hour of immigration procedure and 1 hour of getting lost, we finally got out of our car and into a cab at noon. (My dad parked at their national stadium and we took cabs from there). First place we went to was Takashimaya. Yeap, my Dad loves the mall.
I practically flew into Kinokuniya and threw myself into the art section.
Couldn't find most books that I wanted but I did find 'Factory Made: Warhol and the Sixties' and a book on Escher's art. (Escher = illusory space.. like we did for Semester 2 in foundation)
After that, we had McDonald's for lunch. The only time my Dad would SUGGEST eating fast food is when we're in a different country. My Dad kept trying to make me buy a LEATHER bag. Ew. I told him, I don't wear skin of dead animals. He told me I was being silly.
After that, I wanted, no needed, to find Avenged Sevenfold's All Excess DVD and Dir en grey's DVD. My Dad was too lazy to follow me shopping so he took a cab to Sim Lim Square on his own and my Mum walked with me to HMV. They didn't have BOTH. I went to EVERY mall and asked for a record stall. Finally, I returned to Takashimaya and headed over to this place called Gramophone (?) and this is how it went..
Lyd: Do you have Avenged Sevenfold's All Excess DVD?
Guy: Oh man, no, we don't stock that here.
Lyd: What? Ah, shit. *angry*
Guy: *stares at me in amusement* I know a place where you can get it.
Lyd: :D WHERE?!?!
Guy: Far East Plaza. The place is called Inokii.
Lyd: Far what plaza? And where do I find this Inokii?
Guy: Not from here??
Lyd: No.
Guy: Hahahaha. I'll draw you a map.
Lyd: :D
Turns out, Far East Plaza was quite fxcking far from Takashimaya by foot.
But, I walked anyway. My love for A7X and Dir en grey is too great.
Reached Inokii and they had a shit load of A7X T-shirts but that was not my main concern.
Lyd: Do you have A7X's All Excess?
Other Guy: Oh yeah.
Lyd: Yay!
Other Guy: *takes out a box and hands me the DVD*.
Lyd: :D *pays*
Other Guy: We have a whole lot of Avenged T-Shirts too.
Lyd: Pass. Not interested. THANKS!
Other Guy: :) You're welcome.
Lyd: OH! WAIT! Do you have Dir en grey by any chance?
Other Guy: Oh, sorry, we don't stock it cause it's too expensive.
Lyd: Damn. Thanks anyway.
Then, I buy two statement T-shirts. One says 'Mind your own business and stop reading my shirt' and the other says 'Hand over the donut and nobody gets hurt'.
We then head over to meet my Dad in Sim Lim Square only to find him having a drink with a friend of his. So I sat there, rested my feet (and my boobs cause they've tired themselves out holding up my strapless dress) and had a nice drink. Iced Milo in Singapore ain't as great as the ones from the mamaks here.
My Dad proceeded to make noise about my bare shoulders.
We looked around a mall. I asked how much they sold their PSPs for. My Dad said "You want one?" and I said "Well, not really, I like the DS more".
Then, we left and headed for home.
After a whole 2 hours of immigration nonsense, we reach Johor and have dinner. Without my cousin this time as he had last minute work.
Picked my brother up before food, though. Can't leave the bumass hungry now, can we? (actually, we can)
We eat at this place called New Lucky Restaurant all the time without fail. It's good.
Then, we picked my sister up AGAIN and headed home.
Day 4:
This time around, I wake up at 6 AM, take a bath and Mum, second sister and I were out of the house by 7:30 AM with my cousin.
My Dad didn't wanna wake up so he told us to wake up earlier and follow my cousin to work.
Cousin drops us off at Mount Elizabeth Hospital (hmm, could have checked into their mental ward), and heads back out to work.
Mum and I walk off after leaving my sister with her friend again.
Mum and I eat breakfast at McDonalds at Lucky Plaza before heading in an unknown direction.
After realising that we had no idea where we heading, we sat down to check the map. We found out the Art Museum was located along a road ridiculously named 'Bras Basah'.
Like I told my Mum "What? Did they find a whole lotta wet bras upon finding the road, or what?"
We walk, and walk, and walk, and walk, and rest, and walk, and walk, and walk, and rest, and walk, and walk, and check map, and walk, and walk, and ask for directions, and then we found the damn museum.
I had fun. So did my Mum, as she studied art in London herself. (She told me she visited the Tate for a sketching assignment once... SHIT JEALOUS).
We stood around and talked about the art for about 2 hours. Not many galleries so we walked over to the History Museum. Which, thankfully was not on Bras Basah Road.
My Mum and I liked the History Museum way more. It was actually very interesting. And the set up and layout of the museum was really good. Even the audio tour was nicely timed with their rooms and displays.
Finally, after leaving the museum, Mum and I head over the Sun-Tec city to meet up with my dear father who finally woke up.
Had lunch at Sakae Sushi where I tried really hard to hint to my Dad that I wanted the frog soft toy and he tried really hard to make as though I was speaking French.
We walked over the City Link Mall to find the other HMV.
Found it after much lost-ness (still haven't found our bearings).
I approached the lady behind the counter and said
Lyd: Do you happen to carry Dir en grey DVDs?
Lady: Dir en grey?
Lyd: Yes.
Lady: They're banned.
Lyd: What?
Lady: They're banned.
Lyd: What the.... *managed to bite back the curse word*
Sulked back to Mum and Dad
Lyd: They said Dir en grey is BANNED!
Dad: How come?
Lyd: I don't know. Too violent?
Dad: Then why are you looking for them?
Lyd: *ignores Dad and turns to Mum* How can they ban Dir en grey!?
Mum: But the HMV before said they were out of stock and Inokii said they were too expensive to carry..
Lyd: Stupid bums can't even get their information straight!!
Dad: Where else can you find them then?
Lyd: I don't know.. Online?
Dad: Oh, then I'll just get it for you online..
Lyd: :D Seriously?!
Dad: Yeah. Just give me the title and I'll find for it. Don't go finding it yourself. I'll find it. Who knows what you'll buy with my account.
Lyd: Deal.
Then, we headed back to Sim Lim Square cause my Dad wanted to get the PSP for my brother who was apparently doing hardcore hinting when my Dad told him about the PSP. As my Dad and Mum was talking to the guy (bargaining actually), I pulled my Mum aside and said it's better to buy the PSP back here cause after convertion and everything it's pretty much the same price and if ever the PSP has some problem, we can always go back and screw the guy over but if we buy it here, we can't exactly travel down to screw a guy.
My Mum told my Dad and he agreed.
The guy behind the counter wasn't too happy with me. It's his fault, though. He kept giving us half assed information.
First he says it's so and so Singapore bucks and then, if it's the white one, you have to add S$40, if it's the original memory card it's this much more and so on.
He kept adding on the money so for me, I would've just fxcked it and left.
We left and took a cab to the stadium, retrieved our car and jammed our way back.
My Dad dropped us at my cousin's house and left to retrieve the brother.
My Mum realised she didn't bring the keys out so we had to wait outside the house for about 45 minutes till my cousin came home from work (he had to choose this day to send his co-worker home). We stared at pigeons for 45 minutes.
He came home and was all guilty because we waited out there for so long. Nah, no worries. The pigeons were entertaining.
Then, my Dad came back and picked us all up for dinner. We had some seafood for dinner and during dinner my Dad asks my cousin 'What do you do all alone at home?' (his parents are back in Vancouver and his girlfriend is back in Taiwan for sister's wedding). So my cousin says 'Watch movies'. Then we started talking about fake DVDs and my cousin says the most magical words in all my life "I know a place that sells DVDs for RM3 per disc".
My Dad's eyes lit up and insisted we go after dinner.
After dinner we went and I bought Sex and the City, What Happens in Las Vegas, Wanted, Hancock, The Love Guru and another I forgot.
Super cheap.
Went home, watched Sex and the City and Hancock till 5 AM with my sister.
Day 5:
Dad arrives in the morning to fetch us all.
Go back to hotel to pick up my brother who completed his tournament with much frustration at the supposed 'bad greens' (I quote here).
We had a simple lunch and then headed back.
Arrived home at 6PM. Brandy (our dog-wog) was very glad to confirm that we hadn't abandoned him. I swear, he's too paranoid. I gave him a nice snuggle until my Dad demanded I NOT pay him attention because he dug up the mini-garden again. Then my Dad started talking to my dog like he was expecting a reply. We ALL need to check into Mount Elizabeth's mental ward.
Dad to Brandy: Look at what you've done.. Huh? See how stupid you look. You just look at yourself now.
Lyd to Sister: Yeah, give the dog a mirror.
Then, my Dad announced that nobody was arsed enough to cook so we went out for dinner.
Today, I went out with my brother to 1Utama to finally fulfill my promise.
I promised him we'll watch The Dark Knight together a LONG TIME AGO.
So, watch it we did.
The Joker still turns me on.
I paid for the tickets and he paid for my shepherds pie, and chocolate drink in Theobroma.
Muahahaha.
I got the better end of the deal.
Came home for dinner.
And now, I'm here. Super bored, and super lazy. Should get started on my sit-ups.
I have been neglecting exercise for six days. Not good at all.
Oh, for pictures of my Johor/Singapore trip, go to my Facebook. I cannot be arsed to upload them here. Shitload of pictures.
