I first began reading GetBackers at age 11 when my second sister came home one day with volumes 1 to 3 of the Malay version.
I read it all the time and everything about it piqued my imagination.
From the men with extraordinary powers.. to the Unlimited Fortress or as it's called in the original Japanese version, "Mugenjou" (which translates as unlimited castle/fortress).
I always thought "It'd be cool if such a place exists"
Imagine, a place with absolutely no law.
You can do anything and the long hand of the law will never reach you because they have sworn never to touch such a place.
It drove my imagination wild.
Mugenjou as it appears in the manga

I never thought it possible but... a few days ago, I discovered an article about the Kowloon Walled City.
A picture of the dank, dark hallways cannot be found and these are pictures of the few areas that were lit by sunlight

It was so densely populated that they kept building ON it and it rendered the lower levels void of any sunlight and had to be illuminated using fluorescents.
It was a city of mazes and scraps leftover from the constant building.
It was a hotbed of crime and was controlled by the triads.
It was unsanitary and damp at all times.

The place that was once, for me, an imaginary place I could only dream of, is actually a real place.
However, it has been demolished (1993).
And I shouldn't bear any hope to ever see it.
(I saved the article and decided to only read into it today.. that's when I discovered the similarities between Mugenjou and this city)
Unsurprisingly, many writers/creators of anything have been influenced by this city.
Too bad they tore it down.
Would've been a really interesting place for tourism XD

:D
Bottom right corner... Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, Luke and Maya!
Masayo... my dear friend who growls better than most guys that I've heard live.

...

I helped her pick Barbie Dolls today.

It's quite oxymoronic and paradoxical in all meanings of the words (of which, I believe there's only one each).

While I checked out Star Wars, Legos, Tranformers, Nerfs (Nerves, if we're being grammatically correct) and Gundams...
She checked out Barbie Dolls.

It might be confusing.

Hence, never judge a book by its cover.
Or, never judge a person by what they wear.
For I was in a prissy skirt and she was in a heavy metal t-shirt.

This is here because this part of the chibi segment in Hetalia is SO CUTE.
Just so you know, that was the part where HolyRomanEmpire (blondie) was leaving the house in which Italy, Hungary and Austria were in. And he is kissing Italy goodbye.
Awwwwwwwww :/

I was surfing the net when I read a snippet of a summary that said "... Jesus and Buddha living in the same apartment as young men and trying to adapt to modern life in Japan..."
I immediately wanted to find out the title.
While my eyes were searching for the title the window changed for I already clicked a link prior to noticing that lil bit of summary.

I tweeted "so apparently, there's this manga abt buddha and jesus as young men living in the same apartment? what's the title and where can i find it?"

RyeBread immediately said "WHERE? GOOGLE!".
We both found it at the same time. Apparently, neither could wait for the other to find it and inform the other.

It's called Saint Young Men and it is HILARIOUS.
It is SO blasphemous that it is sinful to laugh.

yukirye: ..... *attempts to stop self from laughing* ......
yukirye
: ......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

yukirye
: Forgive me for I have laughed.

It's really funny.
Jesus has Judas stalking his blog.
Buddha chants sutras everytime he is nervous.. and then develops a halo, which cannot go away.

I think I need to visit a church and a temple to personally apologise for laughing.

Oh, hello there

Haven't been blogging much these days.
Truth is, I couldn't be arsed enough.
Its not as if I'm doing nothing, therefore having nothing to blog about but...
Oh, wait. Who am I kidding?
I AM doing nothing.
But, on another note, I have improved my 3DMax skills.

*waits for applaud that will never come*

Anyway.
On Saturday, Ryebread and I took a trip to Kinokuniya for our Chayamachi Chiral Works artbook.
The moment the lady touched the books and Ryebread saw the words 'CCW', she went 'Aaaah!' next to me.
Our excitement was unparalleled.
We then went to Sunway Pyramid for lunch and upon finding a parking spot, I switched on the lights in the car and opened my book (for she was too OCD about the perfection of hers before wrapping and I was just impatient).
We saw the image of Shiki (Togainu) and Rai (Lamento) fighting and we were screaming like we have never screamed before.
I actually looked over my shoulder to make sure nobody's around, just in case they could hear us. I bet we sounded like somebody got murdered... HAHA.
We were going 'aww' over the one, lone Sweet Pool image.. and the FF10 song came on on my stereo. It was oddly, fitting... and Ryebread broke through our sentimental moment by laughing.
Then, we were flipping through the manga section and just as we laid eyes upon Rai going 'いいかげんにしろ!'.... One Winged Angel came on... and we just broke out in over-the-top laughing.
(If you had seen that picture of Rai and know what One Winged Angel sounds like, you'd understand the hilarity of the situation)
I started to wonder if my stereo has a mind of its own.
Otherwise, what's with all the on-cue music.

To people who follow me on Twitter, I'm sorry for, what Ryebread calls, my 'loon' tweets.
Lately, that's all the excitement in my life. :(

Was doing my 3D images just now.
All I'm doing now is playing with it until it allows me to render. Why Max is being such an arse to me, I wouldn't know.
I just realised, it's fun.
I probably won't be saying that next year but.. for now, it's fun :)

Yesterday night, 7 of us met up in Centrepoint.
Not our usual sessions, yes but.. but... *coming soon*

Received a text from Kinokuniya two days ago and today :)
Now, I'll just be waiting for the third text to tell me that Ryebread's and my artbook has arrived and we'll go to KL!
We should definitely make it another outing! :D

A4-sized. 146 pages

That is what I'm waiting for now.
Chayamachi CHiRAL Works.
I smile like a little loon everytime I think of it.
Saw a preview and the art is AMAZING.
Shiki!
*Squeal*
It cannot come fast enough.

Last night was our weekly sessions in places with food.
Less people are coming and last night was considerably quieter with a lot more phone touching (oo-er).

So, I returned home around 12.
After doing the normal things one does when one arrives home, I sit at my computer and proceed with whatever it is I was doing before I went out.
My brother comes up and says "Again, you know?"
I go "Huh"
But inwardly, I was thinking...
No, seriously.
You'd think they'd have enough by now but apparently, no.

So I choose to ignore it and watch Kuroshitsuji (1) and I realised.. that anime is so full of crack.
Even fuller of crack then I was led to believe.
Why does the dog have NO CLOTHES ON?
It's so obscene.
And the dog licking Sebby in admiration.. is just the manifestation of the authors' yaoi-mind.
Once you've read yaoi manga, you'll never be able to think normal again.

yukirye
@twixt_arcana *gasps* I'm sorry.

Lol. It reminded me of the time in Moral class...
(wait, backstory)... Okay, Ryebread did her A-Levels in the same college that I did my foundation in art.. and my degree too actually.
So, for the LAN subjects, they kinda piled in all the students from the different schools and faculties together so she was in my Moral class as well (end backstory)
.
During one of those Moral classes, while I was talking to her before the teacher came in, I mentioned Godchild and how I was seriously lacking in books 5 onwards. Then she said she thinks there's only 6 books (or was it 8? Not quite sure)..
[Beware: Potential spoiler]
And I said "Oh? So its going to end soon?"
And she said "Yeah.."
And I said "I wonder how it ends"
She said "Huh? Cain dies, I think"
And I proceeded to strangle her.
Cain, is the main character.
[If you read on and I spoiled it for you, sorry. But I warned]

I also like the fact that all the people I talk to now (those that I've known from school not college) are all really old friends.
People that I knew as a small kid, drifted apart as we grew older and somehow, someway we kinda reconnected towards the end of our school life.
Nut, I was only REALLY close to her Std1-2, F2-3 and then in college for those few years.
I knew SJ in Std4, was close to her for two freaking days in Std6 and then in F2 we became really close until now.
Everybody knows these stories already but probably do not know much about Ryebread.

I became friends with Ryebread towards the end of Std2. We then bonded over our shared loved of Sailormoon and I distinctly remember us playing with paperdolls during class only to get them confiscated. It was Ryebread that ignited my love for sketching people when she taught me how to draw one of the characters (Before that I loved sketching Doraemon and mice, note, I was 8 years old).
But as fate would have it, we fell in with different groups and never really spoke much after and there might have been moments of confused animosity (Although, I do not recall any such occasions but like I said "confused").
See, I was always awkward around people in school and people mistook that as intentional bitchiness and I admit, I decided it was easier to let them think so than to correct them. Even if it was people that I know and were close to before, I never knew what to say or what to do and it felt awkward for me to smile and wave so I never did.
[Sometimes, I find that I'm still kind of the same although I worked really hard at changing that part of me but I guess it's impossible to change who I am completely]
When she entered the same class as SJ, that's when we really started talking again.
And guess what?
It was still anime and manga that made us talk.
It was also all those subjects I used to skip in school (Maths, Economics, Accounts etc.) that caused me to inadvertently end up in their class and thus, end up in conversation with all of them.

In many ways, I'm happy that I'm still in touch with these few friends because among all of the people I got to know in school, these are the ones who were probably the least problematic of the lot.

*melts*

Everybody who has talked to me about anime/manga will know that my love for Zetsuai and Bronze surpasses alot of other things.
Although, I cannot watch it a million and one times (like I've done with Get Backers etc.) I will put it at the top of my list.
And it's an unlikely pick too because the choices that I make in anime/manga is always based 70% on drawing and 30% on storyline. Seriously.
And Zetsuai is one of those manga that I decided to read because of the story.
Dramatic? Yes.
Did I cry like a crazy? Yes.
Do I consider it emotional torture to watch? Yes.
Have I watched it more often than my emotional well-being can handle? YES.
Have I talked about it more often than I should? YES.
But, every time I listen to the soundtrack, it makes me want to watch it again and it makes me want to talk about it D:
If you've not watched the show or if you do not know the storyline, the lyrics to the music won't make sense.
However, I like the lyrics.
I like it so much because it is pretty much telling the story without spoiling.
(Actually, I think that only applies to the song Bronze ~Saishuushou~)

(Yes, Rye-chan.. I wrote this after remembering I sent the songs to you. Zetsuai makes me such an emotional fool)

I was about to click on the anime in my folder... until I decided against it
Then I thought I'll just read the manga but realised it'll only leave me hanging precariously off another cliff.. so I decided to play Ace Attorney.

And that's when I went on to the Turnabout Goodbyes chapter.
And *something* von Karma is such an irritating backside!
I'd rather take Miles Edgworth's irritating 'tsks' anyday against von Karma's irritating 'tsks'.
I wanted to jump into my DS and slap his stupid buttface!
*fumes fumes*

*inhale exhale*

*hummmmmm*
(Sorry. This humming business is a stupid inside joke)
