I always wondered, what would life be like now if I had the opportunity to study in Singapore like I originally wanted to.
I will probably never refer to it as a missed opportunity because spending the 4 years studying my 'second choice' is probably the best four years I've spent in any school.
I breezed through my primary and secondary years by sleeping and constantly getting into enough trouble to keep me out of classes.
I didn't have the luxury of doing that in college and I realised that life was much more exciting when one was awake.
I went into college knowing only Nut.
A month later, I got to know the rest of the people who I remained closest to until the end.
So this goes out to everybody who made my four years in college nice..
The one thing that I've felt thankful for all these years is Nut.
And I mean 'thing' in the nicest ways possible XD
I'm kidding.
But yeah, NUT. Even before we started our first day at school, another girl introduced me to Nut and thus, the friendship was born. Don't you just love how easily kids make friends?
I sat next to her, I remember. It was a cluster of six tables, three facing the other three and Nut and I sat on the right side of the cluster. Nut was at the corner and I was in the middle and next to me was a girl named Aisyah/Aishah. Opposite us was Ain Aqilah, Nurul Atikah and Rachel.
See, my memory serves me well, sometimes.
Nut and I fought EVERYDAY. Because I was bossy and she was easily bullied. We'd fight and make up every 5 minutes.
The friendship lasted till Standard 2 but when we got sent to different classes in Standard 3, the friendship pretty much stopped there. Still, everytime I met her, we'd still be able to talk like normal people without any hints of awkwardness.
And it was that way until in Form 1, I landed up in the same class and she was class monitor.
In Form 2, we were still in the same class and she was seated behind me.
That was when we really went wild.
Whatever happened in Form 4 will stay in 2004. I don't think any of us meant for it to happen and I suppose it's just kids being kids.
However, in Form 5, she called me out of the blue and said she needed help with cheerleading and I agreed to it.
It was while we were choreographing dances that I asked her "What you doing in college?"
She said "I'm thinking Interior Design"
I said "Me too.. What do you have in mind?"
She said "I checked out KBU, they look okay"
I said "Hmm"
When I decided on KBU, I signed up and texted her saying "Just signed up in KBU"
She texted back "Serious? I'm on my way there now"
I said "Doing diploma or foundation?"
She said "Foundation"
I said "We gonna be in the same class?"
She said "Cool"
On the first day of college, we sat in a kopitiam and had breakfast.
And on the first day of classes, she pointed out a guy in front of us and whispered really urgently "Oh my God, that guy has nicer nails than me what the f?"
That guy was Raymond.
The guy whom I got to know a month later.
Always knew he was 'special'.. and he turned out to be so. He's the most infuriating, irritating and annoying person I've ever known and I mean that with all the love I can muster for you. He saved my life during a submission in the first semester of our final year and for that I will always be grateful.
He is one person I always use for an example of being comfortable with yourself despite the obvious difference and sometimes discrimination. I am proud that he is proud of who he is.
But seriously, dude, gladiator sandals are so yuck. [XD] There's a reason why we associate those sandals with the ANCIENT Romans. Because it should've remained ancient.
Along with Claire and Raymond came knowing Thingy. His name isn't actually Thingy.. Thingy is what his Chinese name sounds like when said really fast by a banana (Chinese person who doesn't speak Chinese) and he is the bitch extraordinaire. Do not mess with Thingy for he will out-bitch you at anything. (And I'm still threatening the lives of your beloved turtles, okay). Thank you to him for 'layan-ing' us when we go to Klang on our roadtrips.
He and Raymond should stop accusing each other of 'pretending'. It has been 4 years, haven't you guys had enough?
Somehow, sometime, somewhere.. I got to know Ting Fung. Easy going person with no issues whatsoever. And somehow, sometime, somewhere... We decided that we were all married to him (We all being Claire, Raymond and I.. with Nut acting as the mistress he keeps at the side)... and surprisingly, he played along until the end. At the party, he randomly asked me "What do you want me to give you this month?" and I yelled back "2k and a new house" and he was all "OK"... I wish. But I seriously get this feeling that he's gonna get married sooner than most of us will XD I'm not too sure why.
The one thing I love about my class is... somehow, I get the feeling of total closeness without needing to try too hard at it.
To all the drinking buddies that I discovered later in life... SeoHun, Rafe, Yeow Long... and uh, whoever else drank with us that night (I forgot :S).. let's keep it up. May our livers survive the abuse.
To everybody else leaving for Singapore or wherever.. keep safe and come back next year for our 'annual' get together.. if we even manage to keep to it.
To all FCA19-ers, lets not forget colour matching, SS-ing and playing sports indoors during studio time.
To everybody in the degree class, lets not forget sleepless nights, UHU-stuck fingers, spray paints and model boards.
:D
