Finally.
The first song, Devour left me dumbfounded. I do not know what to make of it. It's like you expect a big juicy turkey on Christmas and all you get is a roasted chicken wing.. You know?
The second song Pretty As A ($) (That's them censoring the word swastika.. for reasons, you know) is pretty okay. It doesn't make me wanna jump up and scream like Anti-Christ Superstar but it's okay.
Next, Leave A Scar.. I like the guitar. That's it. ("What doesn't kill you, will leave a scar".. that's pretty much all I hear from this song)
~[So far, I'm not very impressed, seriously]~
Four Rusted Horses, starts off very slow. I'm expecting it to pick up sometime now... Oh no, it just died down again. What is going on?? Ah-hah! I think it's now... Go go go.. HUH?! Okay, I've actually lost interest already.
Arma-Goddamn-Motherfxckin-Geddon (That IS the name, replace the 'x' with a 'u'). This actually starts better than the others. Compared to the rest, this song is actually GOOD. It reminds me of his older stuff.. stuff that he released before the turn of the millenium. I might hear this one through. (Is he saying 'First you try to fxck it, then you try to eat it'??)
Hmm, I like the instrumental break.
This next one is called Blank and White. "I will choke all of you down" is what I hear at the beginning. Has he turned to cannibalism? Honestly, I feel it's just like it's name. It doesn't sound to me like Marilyn Manson. I can hear the Twiggy influence, though.
~[Still not feeling the way I did when I first heard Mechanical Animals]~
Running To The Edge Of The World has the same impact as A7X's Dear God. Which means I am sitting here with my eyes wide open in shock because like Dear God, it sounds country and totally NOT like what MM and A7X usually does. However, just like Dear God, halfway through the song now, I feel like I might like this. It's a ballad and he's singing not screaming. It is VERY different from the usual stuff that I like from him but it's also, in it's own way, quite good.
And the songs stop at I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies. At this point, I'm kind of at the low end of a high and not the other way round. This actually sounds like one of his older songs that I like with a teeny bit of country shoved in. I'm gonna be stopping now. When I get the rest of the album, I'll continue this.
~[What happened?? I was so excited for this because Twiggy is in it. I was totally expecting something that will blow my socks off. It wasn't bad, honestly, the album was actually pretty decent. It just wasn't what I expected so I'm more shocked than I am disappointed.]~
